  • Let's turn this back into a learning Area.....

....instead of a Gallery. As we post images, how about talking a little about what you did? The lighting ratios used, maybe what post production work was done. How about what we had in mind for the particular look or pose.
The images posted in here are, in many cases, Awesome! But, instead of posting an image and waiting for all the Ooos and Ahhhs, let's start teaching.
    Whadda ya say?

It's one thing to say that this is a good idea. Actually, it's not a good idea. It's just something that needs to be done.

              four month cuie

Sarah is a four month old cutie with great eyes. I tried for a 3 to 1 lighting ratio with two soft boxes (3x4). Large bean bag with white satin over it. Kirk's move 2005 applied. jpeg with S3

Charles, I do not see any lighting ratio in the beautiful photo of the baby you posted. Other than the light coming from the cameras lower left, the image looks very evenly exposed.

I love this idea. This is the way Pro4um used to be when it started.

Great idea Kirk. What I would love to see as well I know many others here that still struggle with lighting for babies and children would be to see some visual and actual lighting setups for the shot done if at all possible. Maybe if they can take a shot of the setup before the client gets there if they know what shot they will be taking first or just sometime during the shoot. I study and study each and every picture I see but I can't always distinguish all of the lights that might have been used and where they are if it is very evenly lit.

I'm not asking to be spoon fed but just a visual of what lighting setup was used to create the look.
