  • Square frames

    Hello, all.

I am looking to order ready made square frames for 5x5, 8x8 and 10x10 images. I would like to keep them in stock at the studio, so that each individual order doesn't seem like a custom order. Does anyone keep a well stocked frame department, and is there a reliable, affordable vendor? I have accounts with several, but haven't been overly satisfied for one reason or another, so I am searching again! Thanks... Kim

I get 5x5's from Printz-USA....I am not sure if they have a website?? Try a search and if you don't find them let me know and I will get the # for you. (I am at home and # is at the studio) They are very good quality and very low priced. We use the black ones mainly....as the color selection is not that great.

I just got some other sizes from Excel.....they are nice but higher priced.

Kim, I have 2 suppliers in my state who sell me ready made frames from there left over ends of mouldings at a incredible price!
5"-5" 8"-8" 10"-10" would be through away to many custom frame shops, you would not be getting your pick of frame styles but you would be getting a variety at a reasonable price those frames would go for $4.00 or $5.00 each .

                  GWEN,

The only size square they have is 5x5. Another good source for 5x5 is Max Moulding. They have a website but you will have to be a registered customer to access prices (which are very good). I have asked them about making 8x8, 10x10 and 12x12....they are looking into it and if I find out anything I will post it here.

I have never seen a 6x6 ready made. I have been searching for a while for the 8x8-10x10 and 12x12's. If you find any PLEASE let me know!

Thanks Lisa, I will check them out. I really want 6x6....silly me I threw that in as an "incentive"....I have incentives for $500, $800, $1,000, $1,300, $1,600 and $2,000....I did find some nice little silver 5x5's at Michaels this a.m. for $2.99 each also I think the ones I just picked up from Hobby Lobby 50% off sale are 6x6...they are matted for 4x4 but they only had 3.

TARGET is having a huge clearance on frames right now, that is where I found my 8x8 for under $4.00 also they have the "graduation" stuff and I pulled apart their shadow box to see if I had to use it and I don't .... all kinds of good buys today! BUT I am still needing 6x6.......

Gwen.....I work with several local framers and they make me 6 by 6 and 4by10 5by10 whatever I need for around $5! They also drill a hole in the base of the back and let me put a little dowel rod in to make them stand up. Clients love it b/c if they want to hang it, they can. I also put ribbons on them to appear like they are hung from those.

                          Kim,

I would not recommend stocking a lot of frames. We do not stock very many and do custom order most. To me...money sitting on the shelve is a waste. And I only want to order something if I know it is a guarenteed sale. When I moved to OK to join Gary's studio he probably had about $15k tied up in frame stock. If you do your sales process properly....all frames should be sold. We do stock a few 4x5 adn 8x8 frames, which we get from GW Moudling. But "well" stocking you studio I don't think would be in your best interest from a cash flow perspective. We stay stocked in presentation boxes, folios and album....but I know they will be sold if a given season. Frames a such a personl invidiual thing that I only want it here if I know it has a "SOLD" sticker on it Hope this helps!

The company that took over Mid American Frame is called Frames for Portraits in Cleveland Tenn. Their number is 800- 858-1393 ask for Reggie Law ext 397.

I am talking to him right now. They are just getting started back up since they purchased the company. A rough estimage for a black 1.25 inch wide 10x10 frame, slots and backing board is $13.25. They can do any square size and any moulding. They do send out moulding samples.

                              I must agree!!!

I made this mistake over and over again. I have frames I never will use.
Frames have a tendency to get scratched or dinged when stored around the studio! Unless you know you will be using the same frame over and over again order as need, or as Pam said when sold.

I would be afraid to figure the inventory amount of frames We have that will never be used!
