Framing Question?

What method do you use to hang your frames. I have never used wire, have always used the sawtooth hangers (nail less) but not sure if that is the ideal method or not?

Same saw tooth hangers for light weight frames (8x20, 10x20) Wire for larger framer or heavier moldings.

Denny, I used to operate a frame shop, Back then and even now we only use wire! We provide a hanger to put the frame on the wall they are called thank you hangers. We also use also straps to hold the wire verse, eye hooks because they are tight against the frame. Bob

Thanks everyone, you would all laugh at us if you would have been here when we opened up our first box of frames. We asked ourselves where are the backs, where are the points, where are the hangers.

Needless to say we now have an order in for a framing point gun, and acces. I still have to read up and find out how to hook the wire to frames but like everything else, have lots to learn.

Why is the preferance wire? We have always used sawtooth hangers. The kind that are on with two screws. On 16x20 amd larger we put one on each side. Very solid. Hangs straight. Tight to the wall so it does not lean out at top. This has always worked very well. Do not see the improvement by using wire. For one thing they do not stay straight if they are bumped dusted etc.
