  • processing your snapshots

Okay, I might get some grief about this, but where do you have your personal snapshots developed? You know, the birthday cake shots and the ones of Uncle Joe in the pool. I usually go to wal-mart, but I hate to have any customers see me there. Right now, I've got a few hundred action shots of my daughters softball team that I'm giving to them, and don't want to pay a lot for processing them. Has anyone used those on-line processors?
    Thanks for any help,
    Stacey

Our main camera at home is an Olympus 2.1MP Digicam (about 5-6 yrs old.) That I can still get decent 8x10's out of. If we print, it's at home on the Epson 870, or at Walgreen's. Their Frontiers run pretty good. IF i happen to use film, I'll take it to Walgreen's...they'll process and put files on a CD for 6.99. I don't bother with prints anymore, unless I need them for something/someone specific. I donate event work to my local downtown business Org., and I'll either shooot digital, or if film, get a Walgreen's CD that I work from.

Our Sam's club just expanded to include an on-site processor. I have a thousand to 1500 personal images from the last two years to print. I've considered Sam's just because of the expense.

Not to mention, digital is something else, I get carried away. Fourth of July we went camping for 8 days and several hundred images. Back in the film days, it would have been a couple rolls MAX.

www.winkflash.com is just 12 cents per 4x6 and has them out the next day. They do not color or density correct, so send in good looking images and you'll get good looking images. I'm very happy with them.

Just had a call from the local Sams club that I had spoken about. She said there was a command entitled "Photo Intelligence" that was on and trying successfully to alter my file settings. She turned it off and resubmitted my order and could not believe the difference in quality. For quickies this should be a help.

I never knew about that Steve. Can you PM me more information? I haven't printed a whole lot of my personal images because of the enormous cost. So far we have just added a few onto orders that didn't meet a minimum.

I'd like to know more about this.

Otherwise, it's Sam's or I might even check out the one Adam suggested.

Since I'm digital I use whcc for prints that I want to display or give as gifts to other family members. The rest of my family images go into an album from Sharedink.

I have an on-line account at Wallys (19ยข per 4x6). I send them whenever I want (2 AM sometimes) then my Wife picks them up the next day.
She is an avid Scrapbooker (18 Albums and counting) so 4x6 snaps are her drug.
She just told me this morning "I need those prints from Fridays softball game"

NOTE TO SELF: Teach wife how to process and send snapshots to wallys herown****self!
