Love the feeling of the first one, but for my taste, it's a little over-vignetted. That's purely a taste judgment, but it really jumped out at me when I first saw it.

Nice light and pleasing poses. Where do you go from here? What do you want your images to convey? Are you trying to convey any emotion or sense of your subjects? Or are you satisfied with nice light and pleasing poses?

A very thought provocing question. Nice light and pleasing poses = a satisfied client and large sales. My area is very conservative. I take some edgier photos, but this stuff is what sells. I look at what the clients are buying, and they are rarely the ones I use for marketing. Maybe I'm selling out? The sales are good though....

I like them all. Nice POP!! Good posing and great expressions!! Nice composition. I personally like the vignette effect. Really helps to feature the subject. Here are some very minor tweaks IMO.

#1 The milk cans placement in the first one does seem to play with the eye. Kinda pulls your attention away rather than lead you to the subject. Maybe place it up on his right behind him on the straw.

#2.I like to see the top hand going away as opposed to towards the camera. Once again fingers take your attention away from the face.

#3. A little more posture to the girl. And maybe a clip on the back of her shirt to get rid of the wrinkles in it across the belly.

Sears has nice light and good poses and they sell a ton. Is that our measuring stick? Don't you want to create something original? If you're stuff is like everyone else then your prices will be too. Create something unique and you can charge a premium for it because people can't just get it anywhere.

There are those who are in this business to make a profit. And then there are those who are in this business to fulfil a creative need.

I do not critize either of these 2 groups.

Thanks, those are just the kind of tweaks I'm looking for. Trying to get all the little details down.

Well said. I am definately in the group of those to make a profit. I know what people buy. They oh and ahh over the funky stuff, but buy the "nice" poses. If they're happy with a more conservative pose, I'm happy to do it for them. A great man once said - "beauty is in the eye of the checkbook holder".

Personally I'm in this business to make the most money while at the same time satisfying my creative side. I think the two go hand in hand. You can be one among a crop of photogs playing it safe or you can set yourself apart and move yourself to the top.

I KNOW who shot these.....I know who shot these......hehehehe

I like the first one, but agree about the milk jug. I would have vignetted with the square feathered at about 25 pixels though. I am a sucker for details and would have straightened both of his pants legs on this one. Kids can't stand it if their pants even look CLOSE to being highwaters!

The second one......the second catchlight bugs the HECK out of me! I can't STAND them! Maybe you should have asked her to re-powder or blot her makeup to avoid less shine on her face. That would have allowed you to have the light a tad brighter without blowing those areas out.

The third one, I wish there were more light in her eyes! Maybe from a large reflector or anything to produce some type of a catchlight and get away from the dead socket appearance.

I think that the lighting is very flattering on all of them. and SEARS......I wouldn't put these near the same boat as Sears!

Ahh, but are you satisfied making the same money as everyone else? Or would you like to make more? If you want to make more then how do you set yourself apart from everyone else? If your work looks like theirs why would they pay you more for it?
